CodeUp Manchester – 2015 in review

2015 has been a whirlwind first year for CodeUp Manchester, let’s have a look at all the amazing things we have achieved;

  • We have held ten regular monthly meetups, supporting 354 adults
  • We have held an additional day of workshops for National Coding Week with MadLab, supporting 87 adults
  • Our Programming 101 workshop has been taken out and about all over Greater Manchester, supporting 68 adults, in Bury, Salford, Stockport, Tameside & Trafford
  • We have held sessions in two venues, first Spaceport and then Building Blocks
  • We currently have 15 mentors on our roster who provide support
  • We have facilitated seven workshops during regular monthly meetups
  • We have facilitated five workshops for external events
  • 29% of our attendees have been female
  • 18% of our attendees have been from black and minority ethnic communities
  • 13% of our attendees are aged under 25
  • 78% of our attendees are aged 26 – 50
  • 9% of our attendees are aged over 50
  • One of our attendees developed their own iOS app which has been successfully released to the Apple App Store
  • The average attendance for our regular monthly meetups was 35 adults
  • The total number of adults we have supported is over 500!

So, after an amazing first year, what are our goals for 2016?

  • Increase average monthly meetup attendance to 40 adults per session
  • Facilitate at least one workshop per monthly session
  • Develop a portfolio of workshops ready to take out and deliver to the wider community
  • Increase attendance from both women and black and minority ethnic communities
  • Obtain funding to bring in additional resources for learning & workshops
